Cody Acevedo is a junior at Iowa State majoring in Animal Ecology. He plans on obtaining a Masters degree and then either continue his research or go into conservation. Cody says that LSAMP connected him to resources that helped with his current research on butterflies, and opened him up to new educational opportunities.

Advice for being successful as a STEM major: “It takes commitment, networking, a lot of hard work, and reading. And courage. It can be intimidating being in a STEM field, but you have to tell yourself you can do it. You belong. And don’t be afraid to fail.”
