The Iowa Illinois Nebraska STEM Partnership for Innovation in Research and Education (IINSPIRE) Program is seeking nominations for awards in three categories, outstanding service, outstanding alumni, and excellence in mentoring. One faculty or staff member and one student will be recognized for their contributions in mentoring. A full description of each award is listed below.
Award recipients will be honored at the IINSPIRE LSAMP 2019-20 Annual Conference at University of Northern Iowa on Feburary 7 and Feburary 8. The deadline to nominate faculty, staff, and/or students is Tuesday, January 21st.
Stokes Award for Outstanding Service to the IINSPIRE Alliance
Individuals, teams, and organizations associated with the IINSPIRE Alliance are eligible for the Stokes Award for Outstanding Service. Nominee’s service is at an exemplary level, in pursuit of the LSAMP Alliance’s primary goal to increase the participation of underrepresented minority students in STEM fields.
Outstanding Alumni – IINSPIRE LSAMP Student
Outstanding Mentor – Faculty/Staff
Outstanding Mentor – Student
Individuals associated with the IINSPIRE LSAMP Alliance are eligible for mentoring awards. Nominees are actively involved with LSAMP students and assist students in setting and achieving their own academic, personal and professional goals and through this work contribute significantly to the achievement of LSAMP program goals.
The nomination letter should be limited to one page (approximately 500 words) and should include:
- A description of the nature of your contact with the nominee.
- Descriptions and examples of how the nominee is an exceptional agent and/or mentor and the ways in which he or she has furthered the diversity, education, scholarly, or professional goals of the IINSPIRE LSAMP Program.
Nomination materials should include:
- Nominator’s letter
- A biographical sketch or resume of the nominee.
