The 2024 RISE UP Program offers Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) students from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and Marshalltown Community College (MCC) the opportunity to conduct research in their field of study with faculty mentors and research scientists at Iowa State University. Eligible Students join a cohort of prospective STEM transfer and Iowa State students to conduct mentored research on the Iowa State campus between June 3 – July 26, 2024.

Criteria to be a RISE UP participant or Program Eligibility:
- Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 overall and GPA of 3.0 and higher in major preferred
- No prior research experience if new to the RISE UP program
- Coursework in STEM field/discipline
- Must be able to commute to Iowa State University during the program

IINSPIRE LSAMP/RISE UP Program Requirements/Expectations:
- Participate in research training at Iowa State University during the summer 2024.
- Work on research projects ten to twenty hours weekly and meet with your research mentor regularly
- For first-year students, participate in first-year research seminars, including those organized through the ISU Honors Program
- Commit to AT LEAST 20 hours per week of IN PERSON research training on the Iowa State University campus during the summer term (Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 3rd – July 26th, 2024)
- Complete the Introduction to Research Course during the summer term
- Present your research at the IINSPIRE LSAMP Summer Symposium, Iowa State Summer Symposium and/or the IINSPIRE LSAMP Annual Conference
- Attend all IINSPIRE LSAMP professional development events during the summer and academic year
- Complete two or more STEM majors transfer courses;
- Maintain minimum of 2.7 GPA
- Uphold RISE UP’s high standards of academics and integrity
